Frequency Frequency is defined as the frequency of a word per million based on the Academia Sinica Balanced Corpus (Huang & Chen, 1998).
Regularity Regularity is defined as whether a character is pronounced the same as its phonetic radical. 0: irregular; 1: regular; 2: the phonetic radical is unpronounceable.
Consistency (type) Consistency (type) is defined as the ratio of the number of characters sharing a phonetic radical that have the same pronunciation to the number of characters sharing that phonetic radical. Tonal differences are not taken into account.
Consistency (token) Consistency (token) is defined as the ratio of the sum of frequencies of characters sharing a phonetic radical that have the same pronunciation to the sum of frequencies of characters sharing that phonetic radical. Character frequency is logarithmic transformed. Tonal differences are not taken into account.
Homophone Density Homophone density is defined as the number of characters that share the same pronunciation.
Phonetic Combinability Phonetic combinability is defined as the number of characters that share a phonetic radical.
Semantic Combinability Semantic combinability is defined as the number of characters that share a semantic radical.
Stroke Stroke is defined as the number of strokes of a character.
Familiarity Familiarity is defined as the familiarity of a character.
Semantic Ambiguity Rating Semantic ambiguity means a character can be used to express more than one meaning. The scores are based on subjective ratings of the diversity of meanings of a character (Huang, Lee, Huang, & Chou 2011; Hsu, Lee, & Marantz, 2011).

in the First Position of the Words (NC1)
The number of disyllabic compound words formed by a character in the first position of the words is defined as the number of times that a character is used as a constituent character embedded in the first position of the words.
The Number of Disyllabic Compound Words Formed by a Character
in the Second Position of the Words (NC2)
The number of disyllabic compound words formed by a character in the second position of the words is defined as the number of times that a character is used as a constituent character embedded in the second position of the words.
Naming Accuracy Naming accuracy is defined as the mean accuracy for a character.
Naming RT Naming RT is defined as the mean reaction time for a character in milliseconds.
